The original tree of life patterned carpet dates back to the early 16th Century and is attributed to artisans of Northwestern or Central Persia. Its eleven colors are dominated by a dark red inner field filled with a rich pattern of flowering trees, cypresses, vine-stems and flowering shrubs, all aligned in the same direction. In our modern interpretation, the visual is likewise anchored by tall cypress trees that send their spires across a voluptuous scarlet ground, filled with a delightful profusion of flowering greenery that sparkles with jewel tones of emerald and gold.
